Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Translation and Interpreting has started to admit students to Master’s Programme in 1999 and to Undergraduate Programme in 2005. With 16 years of experience, Ph.D. programme in Translation Studies is opened with the decision number 33909 of Council of Higher Education dated 18.06.2015. As of 2023, there are 8 students in the Ph.D. programme.
The program aims to prepare the students for a successful career in academia, public and private sectors by accommodating them with the required qualifications for conducting scientific research in the field of translation studies. The program intends to raise individuals that are knowledgeable with theoretical and historical studies; current discussions in the field as well as the developments in the sub-disciplines of the field, all the while encourages them to combine and associate their knowledge with other disciplines such as cultural studies, literary studies, linguistics and history. Ph.D. program in Translation Studies aspires to pave the way for respected academicians and researches in the field.
